Don't Judge a Food By Its Color
Does the visual perception of a liquid effect the likability of the substance was the problem of my research. My hypothesis was if the visual perception of a liquid is red, then the likability of the substance increases. I asked three boys and three girls if they would taste a liquid, and rank them from 1 through 3. The liquid tasted the same, but just had a different color. Only 1 person thought that they all had the same taste. Red was the most liked color, and gray was the least liked color. My studies show that color does affect the likability of a substance.
How Indoor Lighting Affects the Brain
The reason I investigated fluorescent lighting is because I wanted to know how indoor lighting affects the brain. I think that a person will use their brain more efficiently under natural light than under fluorescent light. Each person was placed in the same room. They were tested with the memory toy under fluorescent light and under natural light. Some tested under fluorescent first, and some tested under natural first. Half of the scores were better under natural light, and some scores were the same.
Softballs Under the Weather
The purpose of this project is to see if the temperature of the softball affects the distances that it flies. I wish to investigate this topic because I love and play softball and I have always wanted to do a science project. The hypothesis is if the temperature of the softball gets colder than the distance of the roll with increase. I took a softball bat and taped it to a fulcrum, and then I hit different temperature softballs and measured the distance they traveled. The 40 degrees hottest softball traveled the farthest with 5.19 meters. The hottest softball went the greatest.
My project, Swinging Jell-O, is about centripetal force, and what does anybody my age think when they hear centripetal force: roller coasters. I personally love roller coasters, and that is why I chose this project. I tested centripetal force with different forces of motions; a horizontal loop, figure 8, and a vertical loop. My hypothesis was that the horizontal loop would have the most centripetal loop, and I was correct. Also, the vertical loop had the least amount of centripetal, while the Figure 8 had the middle amount of centripetal force.
